Pakistan has openly called for expanding its new defence alliance with Saudi Arabia and Turkey to include more Muslim nations. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said the bloc should not remain an “exclusive club,” urging Muslim states to put bilateral disputes aside and unite on one security platform. The call comes days after the three countries signed the Mecca Agreement, which treats an attack on one member as an attack on all three. With Asif also sharpening rhetoric against Israel, could this emerging “Islamic NATO” eventually reshape the region’s balance of power?
