In a donation to the 11-year-old Ted Haslam who Catherine met while completing the strenuous Three Peaks Challenge, the Princess of Wales used the name “Catherine Wales”.
Although the official surname of the British royal family is Mountbatten-Windsor, royals will often use their titles as a basis for their last names when it’s needed.
According to PEOPLE, the donation was between £1,000 and £2,000, and included a personal message.
