The all-boys school banned smartphones back in 2024, with students only being allowed to use basic “brick” phones for calling and texting.
Both the Prince and Princess of Wales have publicly spoken about their own concerns with digital devices, with William sharing in 2025 that “Our children don’t have phones. I think when George moves to secondary school, then maybe he might have a phone that has no internet access.”
“I think it’s the internet access that I have a problem with. I think children can access too much stuff they don’t need to see online.”
According to the managing editor at The Good Schools Guide Melanie Sanderson, George will be kept busy at his new school with an “induction program which will last the first half of the term because they really want the boys in his house to become a tight group.”
“They will want the boys to bond and throw themselves fully into school life.”
Sanderson added, “It is such a big step for parents dropping their kids off at boarding school… putting your previous young person in the care of another adult.”
“It’s massive.”
