Tradies overlooked in Government’s skilled migration scheme

The construction industry is demanding an urgent overhaul of Australia’s skilled migration scheme after it was revealed tradies are ranked in the third tier for priority visas, the same level as actors and animal trainers.

Master Builders Australia has slammed the classification as “astounding”, particularly as the sector desperately needs more than 115,000 workers to meet demand amid the nation’s housing crisis.

The top tier of the skilled migration scheme currently prioritises nurses and health specialists, while construction workers languish two levels below. #tradies #migrantworkers #government #construction #workers
