Underlining the scale of the facility, Trump stated, “Today, we’re officially launching the construction of the largest new shipyard in the United States.” He detailed that Anduril is investing $3.7 billion alongside an additional $2.9 billion from the US Navy to build submarine parts and autonomous vessels, noting that American taxpayers will retain a forty percent stake in the project.
During his address, Trump also spoke on international security and military operations, remarking, “The Hormuz Strait belongs to the United States Navy and the United States of America.” He highlighted naval blockades concerning Iran, enforcement actions against maritime drug trafficking, and economic policies centred on tariffs to revitalise domestic manufacturing.
