Trump to buy from US farmers with unfrozen Iranian assets

US President Donald Trump has told farmers a new market will be opening up in Iran, and that he plans to use Iranian assets to buy wheat, soybeans, and corn from American farmers.

“We’re going to be taking some of their (Iran’s) money, and we’ll spend it,” he said.

Trump insists that the unfrozen assets will be used to buy agricultural products, which will then be given to Iran as “they’re having a hard time with food”.

Following negotiations in Switzerland, Iranian ambassador to the United Nations, Ali Bahreini said “Iran is the only country who will decide what to do with its assets which are going to be ‘defrozen'”.
