US President Donald Trump has called the war on Iran “a tremendous success”, saying its joint attacks with Israel have “blown up” the country’s defence infrastructure and telecommunications.
“It’s the beginning of building a new country … they have no navy, they have no air force, they have no anti-aircraft equipment. They have no radar, they have no telecommunications, and they have no leadership – it’s all gone,” he said.
Speaking to reporters in Florida, Trump added that the US’ Operation Epic Fury aims to ensure Iran cannot rebuild weapons that could threaten the US, Israel or their allies.
Iran has launched missiles and drones at Israel and at US bases across the region as attacks from both sides continue.
Several Gulf states hosting US forces, including Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, have also been targeted or placed on high alert.
