A spate of suspected bull shark attacks in New South Wales has left beachgoers on edge.
Dozens of beaches remain closed after four separate attacks in the span of 48 hours, with experts saying recent heavy rain has left waters murky and more likely to attract the animals.
“We have such poor water quality — that’s conducive to bull shark activity. Just go to a local pool, because at this stage, we’re advising that the beaches are unsafe,” said Surf Life Saving NSW CEO Steven Pearce.
