At least two people have been killed and another nine critically injured after a shooting at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday night.
Speaking to media, Providence Mayor Brett Smiley said police were still searching for the shooter or shooters who opened fire at the university’s engineering faculty building, where exams were taking place at the time.
He said officials were not yet able to disclose details about the victims, including whether they were students.
In a statement, Vice President JD Vance said, “Terrible news out of Rhode Island this evening. We’re all monitoring the situation, and the FBI stands ready to do anything to help. We’re all thinking of and praying for the victims tonight.”
The FBI and Providence police are working together to search for a male suspect dressed in black.
The search remains ongoing, and officials have confirmed there are no suspects currently in police custody.
