There are multiple reports that the US and Iran are closing in on a one-page memo to end their war.
It comes after US President Donald Trump said Project Freedom, aimed at opening the Strait of Hormuz, would be paused to try to get a peace deal signed. But according to an interview with the New York Post, he’s also said it is “too soon” to consider face-to-face talks with Tehran.
Dr Malcolm Davis is a senior analyst in defence strategy and capability at ASPI and told The World’s Yvonne Yong the news is promising but it’s unlikely to immediately lead to an end to tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
