US Journalist Brutally Attacked By Israeli Settlers In West Bank | 10 News

A Washington Post journalist says she’s lucky to be alive after being brutally attacked by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank.

Heidi Levine was beaten, kicked and robbed of her camera and phone, despite wearing protective gear clearly marked “PRESS”.

The attack unfolded as settlers targeted Palestinian farmers during the annual olive harvest, hurling rocks and setting olive trees alight. Several Palestinians were also injured, including one man reportedly shot by Israeli soldiers.

Israel’s military says it’s investigating the incident, amid a surge in settler violence, with at least 170 attacks recorded since late September.

Israeli authorities have faced repeated criticism for failing to hold violent settlers accountable, with settlements across the occupied West Bank considered illegal under international law.
