A US aircraft carrier and supporting warships have entered Middle Eastern waters as President Donald Trump told Iran to “make a deal” with the US.
“There’s another beautiful armada floating beautifully toward Iran right now. So we’ll see. I hope they make a deal,” he said.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the warship “will not affect Iran’s will or determination” and that they have “the full capability to defend Iran”.
It comes a month after protesters in Iran took to the streets to express economic grievances and anti-regime sentiment, a movement that was quickly met with violence from Iranian authorities.
