Perth’s construction industry faces a critical worker shortage of 40,000 tradies, expected to exceed 100,000 by 2030. Summit Homes has signed 162 Filipino tradespeople, but visa processing delays of six to eight months are preventing them from starting work. The company estimates it could build an additional 500 homes next year if these workers were approved, with each tradesperson capable of helping construct two homes annually.
