Scientists are warning that the world’s largest green turtle nesting site, in Queensland, is under threat from rising sand temperatures, jeopardising the fate of the species in the northern Great Barrier Reef.
Early research findings have revealed hatchlings in the region are overwhelmingly female, threatening the animals long term survival.
The project, which is jointly funded by the federal and state governments, is also harnessing the knowledge of Traditional Owners.
