China’s President Xi Jinping has unveiled a military spectacle in a lavish display of power and global reach.
Xi warned the world is facing a choice between peace and war as he held his country’s largest-ever military parade, flanked by Russia’s Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un.
The event to mark 80 years since Japan’s defeat at the end of World War Two brought together 20 world leaders from Southeast and Central Asia, who have positioned themselves against a US-led world order.
The event, however, was largely shunned by Western leaders, including those from the US, UK, France and Germany.
