Amputee football players have participated in the Hope Championship, a four-day football tournament in Gaza that encourages their return to sport.
Many of the players lost limbs due to Israeli attacks on Gaza during the latest Israel-Hamas conflict, which started in October 2023, according to organisers.
Palestine Amputee Football National Team member Abdullah Abu Mukhaimer said he has noticed “many new names” due to the conflict.
“We will continue, and we hope the concerned authorities will pay attention to amputee football in Gaza because the number of amputees is very large,” he said.
