SBS News spoke with Deakin University’s Professor Shahram Akbarzadeh about Israel’s targeting of
Hamas leaders in Qatar.
The attack has been condemned by Gulf States and other world leaders and has also been criticised by Israel’s staunch ally, the United States.
It was aimed at the headquarters of the Hamas political leadership as top figures gathered to consider a US ceasefire proposal.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says it was a precision strike, which he says will open the door to ending the war in Gaza.
