It’s now been announced that Prince William and Catherine will be relocating to Windsor’s Forest Lodge, with Kensington Palace confirming that “The Wales family will move house later this year.”

A royal source told the Mail on Sunday that “They feel they have outgrown Adelaide Cottage and need somewhere more substantial,” adding that Fort Belvedere “is the perfect new home for them.”

However, it’s since been revealed that the family of Canadian billionaire Galen Weston, who have leased Fort Belvedere since the early 1980s, renewed their contract to continue leasing the Gothic Revival mansion—meaning that the Prince and Princess of Wales were no longer able to consider moving there.

Even so, the royal couple reportedly view their relocation to Forest Lodge as a chance for a “fresh start” after the late Queen Elizabeth II’s death in 2022, and King Charles and Catherine’s cancer diagnoses.
