George Pragnell, the owner of the company that made the ring, has longstanding ties with the royal family.

Not only did Pragnell himself tend to Queen Mary’s jewellery needs until her death in 1953, but he went on to acquire the same jeweller that created Queen Elizabeth’s diamond ring upon her engagement to Prince Philip in 1946.

Peter spoke of his close relationship with his grandmother after the Queen’s death, telling Sky News Australia, “She was a figurehead that had been part of everybody’s lives for as long as people could remember… Having her as a grandmother and a role model was unique.”
