The US Federal Trade Commission is suing Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation, for alleged illegal practices in the ticket marketplace.
The lawsuit accuses the country’s largest ticket seller of engaging in three illegal practices namely, charging customers hidden fees only revealed at checkout permitting brokers to exceed artist-imposed purchasing limits and profiting from the resale of tickets obtained unlawfully.
The FTC alleges Ticketmaster allowed and encouraged brokers to bypass their own security measures to buy tickets in bulk and resell them at inflated prices.
