Communications Minister Anika Wells has clashed with Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell in defence of her taxpayer-funded trips, including a nearly $100,000 spent on a three-day summit in New York.
“I absolutely understand that any ordinary Australian would look at those black and white figures and have a gut reaction,” Ms Wells told Sky News Australia.
“People can have an opinion about whether it was worth the money, but for me, the policy imperative that the life-changing work that we are trying to do … it really was important, and I stand by it.”
