US President Donald Trump has said he is “considering” a limited military strike on Iran to force a deal over its nuclear program.
His comments follow one of the largest US military build-ups of naval and air power in the Middle East in the past two decades.
Meanwhile, Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said “the only solution is diplomacy”, adding Tehran is also preparing for conflict, if needed.
“We are prepared for diplomacy, and we’re prepared for negotiation as much as we are prepared for war,” he said.
Trump had earlier indicated an attack on Iran would be “far worse” than the limited strikes launched by the US in June against its nuclear facilities.
