Former NSW trade and investment commissioner Mike Newman says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s comments will have “deeply disappointed’ the Japanese.
“The Japanese will take this to heart; they will not forget, but you will not hear them really raise their voices to complain or anything of this nature,” Mr Newman told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“It will just be quietly absorbed, and they will see it as yet another reason why Australia is becoming far more difficult to invest in.
“I don’t think an apology will do anything.”
