In the season finale, Emily is offered a dream job opportunity when her boyfriend Marcello is given the reins of his family’s luxury cashmere company, but if she were to lead the brand’s marketing, she would have to relocate to a small town outside of Rome.
Lily told PEOPLE that she loved how the season’s ending played out:
“I think that there was this kind of fairytale dream that came with Marcello.”
“But I think [Emily] acknowledged that it wasn’t the life that she wanted and she wasn’t done living the exploration of herself yet.”
“It wasn’t that it would have been a bad life, it just wouldn’t have been the fulfilling correct life for her in this moment. And so I really liked that she was brave enough to make that decision.”
