Lindsay Clancy Trial LIVE: Expert Says ‘Male Voice’ May Have Been Intrusive Thoughts, Not Psychosis
Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial continued with prosecution forensic psychologist Dr. Kirk Heilbrun challenging the defense’s claim that Clancy was experiencing postpartum psychosis when she killed her three children. Heilbrun testified that he did not believe she was experiencing acute psychosis and questioned her account of hearing a male “command voice.” He said the reported experience could instead have been an intrusive thought and described the alleged hallucination as highly unusual because Clancy said it occurred only during the roughly 18 minutes of the killings.
Heilbrun also testified that he diagnosed Clancy with Bipolar II disorder and offered an alternative explanation for the killings. The defense maintains that Clancy was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and should not be held criminally responsible.
