A draft Pentagon report reveals China has deployed over 100 ICBMs across new silo fields, signalling a major nuclear escalation. With warheads expected to top 1,000 by 2030, the U.S. warns this could spark a new arms race alongside Russia. Beijing insists it follows a no-first-use policy and minimum deterrence, but the Pentagon remains unconvinced, linking this build-up to Taiwan war plans. As the New START treaty nears expiry, a binding global arms control framework may collapse — raising fears of a multi-front nuclear race. What’s China’s real endgame? Is deterrence enough, or is escalation inevitable?
