India has issued a strong response to US President Donald Trump’s latest warning, in which he threatened to substantially raise tariffs against India. This comes just days after he imposed a 25% tariff on imports from India. India stated that such “targeting of India” by the US and European countries was “unjustified and unreasonable.” It also pointed out that not only did the US previously encourage such trade, but both the European Union and the US continue to actively trade with Russia in amounts exceeding that of India. This follows Trump’s claim that India is selling Russian-imported oil in the open market for higher profits. He also alleged that India is not concerned about the number of people being killed in Ukraine by Russia, amidst the ongoing war.
