US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has hit back at impeachment threats with a fiery video message, declaring that attempts to remove him will not succeed. His remarks come amid growing political uncertainty following the Republican Party’s losses in the 2026 US midterm elections.
Defending President Donald Trump’s military campaign against Iran, Hegseth described the war as a “historic and courageous effort” and insisted that he would not back down.
His defiant response comes as Republican Representative Thomas Massie pushes impeachment articles against the Defence Secretary over the Iran war and military strikes carried out without congressional approval.
Hegseth’s political future is now under renewed scrutiny as the Trump administration faces questions over its military decisions, congressional oversight and the consequences of the midterm election results.
