During a chat with her on-screen husband Luke, Mel claimed she âlovedâ stalking her ex-partner, and would drive past his house “multiple timesâ at night to check he was home.
Stalking awareness advocate Di McDonald told Yahoo Lifestyle Melâs comments were âhorrificâ and was shocked Channel 9 would even air them.
Now, weeks after leaving the show, Mel has spoken out.
In an Instagram post, she said, âThis experience has been a huge learning curve for me. Iâm not perfect, and seeing things play back has made me reflect on how I handle certain moments. All I can do is acknowledge it and keep growing.â
Mel added, âI do not think stalking is funny and I absolutely do not condone that behaviour. I was referring to something from when I was 17 and joking with friends, and it was careless of me to say it the way I did. I regret it.â
