One dead and several injured in train crash north of London

​At least one person has died, and more than 50 have been injured after two trains collided near Bedford in the UK.

The crash occurred around 5 pm local time, with several carriages left crumpled.

Emergency services, including multiple helicopters, rushed to the scene amid reports of serious injuries.

One passenger described hearing a “big bang” before people were thrown from their seats, as nearby hospitals activated emergency protocols to treat the wounded.
