Ouzo or Auszo: EU trade deal will see some Aussie items change their names

Australia’s new trade deal with the European Union means some food and drink items will need to change their names.

For example, the name for the high-proof liquor ouzo will need to be phased out by Australian producers.

When asked about renaming the spirit to ‘Auszo’, Trade Minister Don Farrell said: “I’m sure there’s ways around [the naming conventions]” but emphasised many Australian foods would retain their names.
