Professor David Ching Siang Huang FAA FAHMS – New Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science

Professor David Ching Siang Huang has turned laboratory discoveries into a life-saving treatment used around the globe. The newly elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, based at WEHI and @UniversityofMelbourne, made groundbreaking discoveries about how cells die that led directly to venetoclax, a revolutionary cancer drug.

Venetoclax is now treating blood cancers in patients worldwide, transforming what was once basic cell death research into real hope for cancer patients.

But Prof Huang isn’t stopping there — his ongoing discoveries continue to unlock new possibilities for cancer therapy, potentially leading to even more breakthrough treatments.

About us: The Australian Academy of Science is an independent organisation of distinguished Australian scientists, championing science for the benefit of all.
