Successive heatwaves across South Australia have killed more than 2,500 flying foxes as the animals struggle to deal with the temperatures.
Experts say bats have difficulty regulating heat in the same way other mammals do. Rescue groups are banding together to rehabilitate the animals, with some from the state’s south-east being transported to Adelaide.
