Phase two of US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza has been launched, according to his special envoy Steve Witkoff.
The next stage shifts focus to demilitarisation, post-war governance and reconstruction, including the establishment of a committee of Palestinian experts to oversee Gaza’s daily affairs under US supervision.
While the plan has received tentative backing from Hamas and other Palestinian factions, significant sticking points remain for Israel, raising questions about whether the next phase can be fully implemented.
