Victorian government makes formal apology to First Nations people

The Victorian premier, Jacinta Allan, made a formal apology to First Nation people for the harm inflicted upon them by the state and colonisers. The apology was previously agreed to in the statewide treaty, signed into law in November. ‘For the violence committed under the banner of the state, and the colony that came before it, and for the neglect that allowed it to continue without consequence, we say sorry,’ Allan said.
