Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has been booed and heckled over the government’s silence on Israeli strikes in Lebanon during its war with Iran at a mosque in south-west Sydney, SBS understands.
Albanese visited Lakemba mosque with Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke on Friday morning for Eid al-Fitr prayers, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Following several minutes of prayers, a group of men stood up and started shouting at Albanese and Burke, labelling them “genocide supporters”.
