Research from Lush Cosmetics found that one in 10 Aussies aged 18 to 19 have received at least one injectable in the last 12 months.
The study also found that one in nine 16 to 17-year-olds reported being concerned about fine lines on their face, despite being years away from showing actual signs of ageing.
Skin and dermal therapist Isabella Loneragan told Yahoo Lifestyle that while the figures are âconcerningâ, she said theyâre ânot surprisingâ.
â[It] just shows how distorted the conversation around skin has become.â
Isabella said that the study âis yet another sign that we need to reset the narrative around skin health, social expectations and self-image.â
She added, âYoung people today are growing up in an environment where filtered, hyper-edited images of skin are the norm, and that creates unrealistic expectations very early on.â
