Skin therapist Isabella Loneragan told Yahoo Lifestyle that the inside of water pipes can rust over time, placing unwanted particles and impurities into the water.

She said, “These elements can disrupt the skin barrier, increase sensitivity and place additional stress on already compromised skin.”

Isabella explained that shower filters can be especially beneficial for people with sensitive or reactive skin that are exposed to these metals and chemicals every day.

“While they’re not a complete solution, they can be a meaningful addition to a skin-supportive routine.”

She added, “It’s about making smarter and more intentional choices that work with the skin barrier and not against it.”
