During an appearance on Abbie Chatfield’s It’s A Lot podcast, Rachel shared that her relationship unravelled “nearly immediately”.
“On the last commitment ceremony, I expressed my concern that Steven was going to go back to his normal life, and I would become a burden and it’s going to be easier to let me go, which I very much feel like that’s what’s come to fruition.”
Rachel said that Steven came to visit her in Melbourne shortly after their final vows, but the trip ended up being very “awkward”.
She added that at the reunion dinner party, Steven was grilled by the experts on why he wasn’t trying to make the relationship work, and eventually he said it would probably be easier to “put a bullet” in their relationship.
Rachel told Abbie, “I had such an understanding and support for his insecurities and his quirks and all these things.”
“He didn’t love me for me, because he didn’t love me.”
